Police arrested a 22-year old male Chinese believed to be involved in several cases of Outrage of Modesty.

Since January 2009, Police received reports of cases of Outrage of Modesty involving females in their twenties, committed by an unknown male Chinese youth at Woodlands Housing Estate.

Through intensive investigation and intelligence work by officers from the Jurong Police Division, the identity of the suspect was established. On 23 March 2009 at about 10.30pm , Police arrested the suspect at his residence in Woodlands.

The suspect will be charged in Court 26 on 25 March 2009 for the offence of Outrage of Modesty under Section 354 (1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he may be jailed up to 2 years and will also be liable to caning.

Commander of Jurong Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cheang Keng Keong, commended his officers for their dedication, perseverance and excellent investigative skills which resulted in the arrest of the suspect. He said, “Our officers’ swift response, effective investigative work, good communication and teamwork resulted in tracking down the suspect ."
